With the construction of a dam in the 1920s, access for fish in and out of the dam was non-existent. Sockeye and Chinook salmon were extirpated within the first decade due to the lack of access to the Alouette Lake from the South Alouette River.
For the past 8 years, ARMS has been working with stakeholders to research the effects of the dam on the watershed. These projects are currently being assembled to make a case to BC Hydro for a fish ladder, but we need YOUR help! To learn more or to help, contact us.
Let’s work together to fully connect the Alouette Watershed!
