This program examines the Fraser Valleys Species at Risk. Students learn some of British Columbia’s endangered wildlife species and the elements that are necessary for wildlife to survive. Reasons that wildlife and plants become endangered or extinct will be discussed. Activities and interactive demonstrations will help students understand the importance of protecting these species. Students dissect owl pellets, reconstruct skeletons and create food chains with their findings. This leads into a fishbowl discussion where the students discuss what happens if we disturb or disrupt an owls food chain: how does this explain why species become endangered?
